Differences between Canon 251 and 251xl ink page yields
Canon cli 251 page yield = 350
Canon cli 251XL page yield = 660
So whilst cli251xl will cost a bit more it is obvious that you get more printed pages and compared to the increased cost it is better value overall.

We have had a few questions about the difference between Canon 250 and 251 ink cartridges. The Canon 250 (pgi-250) is black cartridges only whilst 251 (cli-251) is the color cartridges, that’s just the way Canon named them.
There are four colors those are black (pgi250xlbk), cyan (cli-251xlc), magenta (cli-251xlm) and yellow (cli-251xly). The page yield of this one is standard. And the Canon cli251 xl has ChromaLife 100 system for stunning print results. Please note PGI250XL (black) will fit also and has even more ink (pigment based ink).
